No, I am unable to add back my computer with either https:// or http://

With the http:// I do get to the second step when attaching my computer where I am told you need an existing account or an invitation code, but on entering my password I get the same error message as before that the "Project Communication Failed" "Project Servers maybe Temporarily Down".

I don't get that far with https:// it goes start to the error.

With this new https access does it mean that older Boinc clients (such as 6.12.43) on Linux are now unable to access this site?

I detached and re-attached as I was unable to download any work due to "Missing Input Files".
This however made no difference, so I restarted BOINC Client, still unable to get work.
It says "Project Communication Failed" "Project Servers maybe Temporarily Down".

I can not attach to this project with this computer any more.

I detached and re-attached my other Linux computer running BOINC Client 7.4.25 and had no problems contacting the server and getting work.

If it does need a latter BOINC client version then you will be at least one computer down as I don't need to change this one just yet and other projects (it is running over a dozen) work without issue.

Is a new work unit series being prepared?
Or are the servers being upgraded/moved and this is why we wont be able to reach the project?

Just curious

Thanks yoyo for the heads up

Another couple of longer run times

C112 34,560.12 seconds on AMD 6 core
C113 44,497.38 seconds on AMD 6 core

A lot of the C114 I have been getting lately have all been short ones under 10,000 seconds.

See also Host 6491 and Host 6487
Both are Core i3 computers with 10,000 cores ?????

If they were the controlling host of a large computer network, then it could be possible but in this case I doubt it.

Maximum number of threads used by Host 6421 (reported earlier) is 64 threads.
So you don't need 10,000.

As asked for in the News thread

This is for the CPU run times

C101 9,939.04 sec done on 6 core AMD Phenom CPU
C104 19,813.13 sec done on 4 core AMD Phenom CPU
C107 22,698.92 sec done on 6 core AMD Phenom CPU
C107 24,575.87 sec done on 4 core AMD Phenom CPU
C110 32,790.74 sec done on 4 core AMD Phenom CPU
C114 44,347.47 sec done on 4 core AMD Phenom CPU
C114 52,422.42 sec done on 6 core AMD Phenom CPU

I notice a gradual increase in time taken per work unit type.

I don't have an idea. As I know this error code means a DLL is missing.
yoyo

Thanks yoyo,

After checking that I had all updates, checked the Internet to find what the error means (which didn't help much), I have tried again to run these work units.

Still getting the same error.

Would you know how I can find out what DLL file is missing?

Is it just 32 Bit Windows machines having the problem, or is it just me having the problem?

Still a Windows error but a different one to Dingo.

I get the following on both my Windows computers

<message>
- exit code 195 (0xc3)
</message>
<stderr_txt>
wrapper: starting
09:59:40 (5504): wrapper: running yafu (-threads 4 -batchfile in)
app exit status: 0xc0000135
09:59:41 (5504): called boinc_finish

Resetting and detaching makes no difference, I still get the error.
32 Bit Windows XP machines.

Thanks again YOYO, I wasn't to worried about it, but thanks very much for the Christmas present.

Now take a break and enjoy a quite (or loud) beer for a job well done over the last few years.

Everyone who has crunched this project over the last few days has had all their credit deleted.
I have lost over 7,000 points some have lost a lot more.

This is also reflected on the Stat sites.

It appears that all work units as well have been deleted too so that everything we have done over the last week didn't happen.

Has there been a database corruption or something?

The newest yafu version 1.33 is now deployed for 32/64 bit Windows and 64 bit Linux systems.
The version contains some stability and robustness fixes as well as less output. SO the results should be a bit smaller.

Just connected with this project again. Downloaded what I thought was one work work as that is all that showed up on my BOINC Manager. My anti-virus program...AVAST...came up and stated the files looked suspicious but didn't stop the work units. Work unit showed 8 CPU's working. After numerous times the elapsed time for the work units restarted. It would get to about 10 or 15 seconds and restarted again. I aborted that work units and then another new work unit showed up. I went to my computer account page and saw that I had about 40 tasks assigned. Same thing happened for another three or so work units. I then aborted the program.

Yank,
I believe that the Work Units are made up of multiple parts that all are worked on one at a time (the start then stop that you see), then the results from all the parts are combined and processed at the end (where CPU usage goes up to 100%) into a result file to be sent back to the project.

At least that is how I remember it described to me but I may have gotten that mixed up.

I am going to run some more again soon to see if this is still true.

36) Message boards : Number crunching : why does it need all 8 cores to run (Message 505)

It is a Multi-Threaded Application, meaning it will use as many cores (threads) as are available to process the work units.
Just like SimOne@Home does.

Thanks YOYO the application is working now and I have validated and successful results.

Reading the Boinc messages it reads that the app found "negative CPU", what does that mean?

Right, thanks YOYO.
I have detached and reattached to the project just to make sure that I have downloaded the latest version.
The "ecm" binary is in the project directory on both computers, I did not check to see if it was there before.

Have downloaded another WU on both machines so will now run them and see how they go.

I still can't get a WU to finish on my AMD Phenom X6 Linux 64 bit computer.

I am now getting File transfer errors and 'ecm' command errors.

Boinc messages shows File Size : 103866468.000000 Limit : 5000000.000000.

See 639963
and 640058

So my file size does not match what it should be and this is failing the WU.

Is there a cure for this ?

On my Linux computers running Fedora 16 (64 Bit), I have noticed that while the Resources use shows from 89% to 99% and all cores in use, the Process use is only 4% per core on my 4 core machine and 6% per core on my 6 core machine.

This then jumps to 96% to 100% and 1 core in use (with all other cores still held but not being used) when the WU is finishing up the calculation.
This then goes to 84% to 100% and all available cores again when the gnfs sieve part of the WU kicks in.

So for the first stage all cores are grabbed but the computer is doing very little but in the second stage the computer is fully utilised.

I would assume that the Windows WU does a similar thing.

Just some observations.
