It appears to have finished and been awarded.
It aged off the task list immediately so I did not see the final duration.
However, the important observation is the work contributed without running forever or getting cancelled.
We can get stuck into those long running WUs with confidence.
Thanks Yoyo :)

One of them completed at 239,496.30 seconds. (66.5 hrs)
The task record has updated as you described.

The other is still going.
But it looks like there may be a problem.
When I left home this morning the task showed about 58 hours duration.

Now I check it and it says it has been running for only 1 hour 23 minutes.
I cross checked the task ID and it is definitely the same one.
It looks like it stopped and re-started and the BOINC Manager has dumped the 58+ hours already accounted for in the duration.

The task record probably still has the real duration value in it as opposed to what the BOINC manager says.
Seen that before.
(in which case it should complete soon)
We'll see what happens when it completes.

Workunit 552683 (C99)
Workunit 552361 (C99)

checked server status in the task list
both come up as Error status "Too many total results"
and the task status message is "Timed out - no response"

both clients have been Update refreshed and both work units are continuing without interruption.

I expected that when the server has set the work unit status as error, that the project would terminate the work unit on the client.

On the project server side, there should also be a notification to the admin of this undesirable state because it indicates that the work batch is exceeding acceptable parameters requiring admin intervention to resolve.

If the WU status is now "Error", how can we get credit for them?

I suspect that I should terminate these wu's immediately,
but I will await your advice.

I have several work units that are running over 40+ hours.

One is about to pass the deadline and is still running.

What are the acceptable run times for the current batch of work units?

If the longer run time is acceptable, please extend the deadline.

If the longer run time is not acceptable please activate the duration limit test to kill the work unit when it exceeds the acceptable time limit.

/edit - longest running WU has now exceeded deadline. still running. - edit/
/edit2 - next one has exceeded deadline. still running. -edit2/

j/k

Maybe this has something to do with the planned outage announcement that just popped up in the News forum.

What changes are planned?
Relocating the host?
Moving from a VM to a physical host?
Maybe pick a better hostname for the server? :)

What impacts are we likely to see?
Change of IP address requiring detach & re-attach?
Has the latest backup been tested?
What about work units in progress?
Are you going to run the work queue down or suspend it?

Maybe you are going fishing again.
Skiing, maybe?
What about rock climbing?
White water rafting, then?
An absolute blinder pub crawl across the whole of London?
No?

Is my head going to explode if you don't answer each of these questions?
ha ha ha
Well, of course not :P
But I am interested to know why the server is being turned off for a week :)

Thanks.
I actually found that was a regression.
I found a live older version and tried it there and it gave a warning message that the search string should be at least 3 characters.

I think the next bug will be harder to find.
It's starting to look pretty good from this end.
:)

Unable to handle request

helpful notes:
the Forum Search handles this character ok.
the Teams search also does this ok and says "No teams were found matching your criteria. Try another search."
assumption -> the User search is missing a bit of code that the other two have.

Possibly there is an extra space or new line at the end of the file, or maybe something else more complicated.

Current version is 24314.

Problem also exists version 23761M on isaac.

Unfortunately it also exists in version 23819 which is being used by 'live' projects. example:
http://moowrap.net/profile_menu.php?cmd=rand&pic=-1
also on SETI@home
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/profile_menu.php?cmd=rand&pic=-1

Crickey mate. It's not a question of blame.
It's a question of observation and reporting.
The original problem (above) still exists on the BOINC Alpha Test site (ver 23761M) on http://isaac.ssl.berkeley.edu/
If berkley applied the fix to the problem above that then broke all the button mouse-over texts then they need to know about it so they can fix it before it rolls on into the next release.
The BOINC Alpha Test site is for testing the client and manager and no-one responds to message board posts over there.
So if this is not as good a place as any to test and report BOINC server software then where is the right place to perform testing and bug reporting?
They used to have another test site (not on isaac) but I cannot locate it now.
Do they have a new test server somewhere?
Or maybe it is all in a closed system and you're not supposed to be using this version yet?

re-test in new version

the slashes and quotes are gone
but now there is a stray ")" right-bracket at the end of the text

please re-send this issue "forum_help_desk.php button mouse-over text"

CORRECTION - there is now a ")" at the end of EVERY button mouse-over text

That's an Ooops!
