Or at least to a version that fixes the bugs of never ending tasks on Windows application ... |

Yes. The amount of time & power wasted on stuck work units is a real turn off, especial with current high power prices. You never quite know if it's stuck or still going. Abandoning 20,30+ hrs of crunching is very wasteful. |

Yafu 2 displays estimated time to completion of ggnfs in log. |

Or at least to a version that fixes the bugs of never ending tasks on Windows application ... Do you think it is yafu2 which fixes it? I though it is gnfs which doesn't finish. . |

Maybe the fault of gfns but then why don't implement a control mechanism to detect when it is clearly stuck : for example we can see the log files not being updated anymore in the slot directory, we can see only one gfns process running endlessly and all the other threads idle... So define a "security time" after which task to be stopped if such conditions are met - with error code and loss of credits, or not, this is another debate. Happy new year ;) |

And you do know, if a task sticks at 100.0%, simply look at the CPU usage of the machine in task manager etc. If it's been at 0 for a few minutes, cancel the task. And it doesn't waste power if it's not calculating. |
