Host 13107. I deleted the 64 bit host. I didn't mention that after I reboot (a push-the-button reboot, nothing else responds) the task continues to completion.

Over the past 6 months I've had a similar problem under Win 7 (64 bit) and Win Vista (32 bit). I'd find the computer completely hung with no CPU cycles present when I got up in the morning. YAFU has been the common element during the hangs. In July I stopped running YAFU on the 64 bit machine as it would hang on a very frequent basis. It hasn't hung since without YAFU. The 32 bit machine started to hang about a month ago. It's done it 3 times now so I'll try to finish the downloaded work and then stop (at least for a while). My "hope" was that some of the new work caused this but given the age of the previous post it looks like it's been around for a while.

I haven't found any chants, incantations, or the right size hammer to solve the problem :)

I had a similar problem on an AMD 955/4 GB ram. It would lockup occasionally, but could successfully process some Yafu tasks. I never found out what exactly the problem was, but after 6 weeks of trying I finally took the advice of the doctor who said stop doing that when told that it hurts when I do this :)

My 1055T/8 GB ram seems to have no problems getting through the tasks tho. I have no idea why one works and not the other. Memory doesn't seem to be the problem. For the moment I'm just going with the flow :)

OK. Now I know I can plan for BOINC "getting excited" with early deadlines. Are they necessary? I might suggest that the website agree with BOINC about the deadlines in any case unless this is your method of allowing late submissions in which case why not allow a week?

OK, I joined yesterday (or perhaps the day before) :) I did a few tasks and then I got 2 tasks that BOINC said would be about a day each. BOINC showed a two day deadline which I thought was unreasonable because both of them would need to run almost perfectly to get finished in time.

I finally aborted one of them to make sure the remaining one would complete. Imagine my surprise that the YAFU website said I had a week for each...sigh. BOINC thinks 2 days and the project thinks a week.

OK, alpha project, but this seems to be a problem ;)
